Film Poster Analysis "Harry Potter And the Deathly Hallows"
This shows here that a film poster provides allot of information on the film and even present ideas that sometimes you wouldn't really think about e.g the light and dark sides of the poster representing good and evil. Also the poster is a main form of advertising and also a good souvenir of a film and is also classed as merchandise.
Film posters then have a huge purpose for advertising way before the film has even come out and are generally used for a "teaser" area of marketing to get people interested into the film and begin researching.

Editing is crucially in trailers as it plays a huge part in gathering a potently audience for the film.
Editing includes
- fades between shots
- music
- speed of fades
- super imposed shots ( scenes with text on screen)
- dialogue
This trailer manly consists of super imposed images with text and a music sound track that creates a suspence aslong as playing action scenes and key scenes and then killing the music and ending with a shot that ends the trailer on a cliff hanger that grabs the audiences attention.
This trailer is a good example of how editing has an effect on its audience. the sound track builds up suspense and the fades get faster as well as the intencity of the scene e.g the climax is were the sound track is at its most intense and then stops and you hear the soldier breathing heavily with the alien behind him.
The super imposed imagry aswell plays a key part in the trailer aswell as it give some of tyhe story line away but not enough to ruin the film this also acts as a hook for the auidience.

Use of Sound and effects it has in a Trailer
Sound plays a huge role in trailers and creates differant impacts on audience exspectations.
there are many differant sounds that you can hear
there are many differant sounds that you can hear
Types of sound
· Diagetic
· Non diagetic
· Narrative
· Dialogue
· SFX
· Music
· Natural
· Soundtracks
· Theme sound
· Sound bridge (move between scenes with music)
all of these sounds are used in differant trailers to create differant inpacts on the audience for example on film i looked at was Jonny English reborn
Trailer blow
This trailer uses a variety of differant sounds to create an impact on the audience. e.g it uses dialogue of the actors to give an idea of the plot of the story and uses key scenes to grab the audiences attention with sound effects such as the golf scene uses the sfx sound of a golf ball hiting someone aswell as the scene of a man falling over to create the impression that the man has been hit by the golf ball to the audience.
Also it plays a famous sound track from another film "Rocky" called "Eye of the tiger" this is used to portray the star "Jonny English" as invinsible whilst there is a load of comedy type scene played over it to contrast that it is a comedy film.
Sound is used alot to portray the genre of a film usually in the form of its sound track e.g for a gang warfare type film its trailer would use an urban/rap styled soundtract to portray to the audience that its a gang culture type film.
differant sounds affect all of the following
· Genres effect sound
· Emotion
· Setting
· Characters
· Pace of action
· Narrative
· Audience
all of those are noticable in trailers and the film themselves

BBFC guidlines and restrictions
In our Trailer we intend to use a scene that involves to decision to take a life threatening drug (not the actual taking of the drug) The scene we are hoping to create is of a man deciding weather or not life is still worth living.
So because of this content we researched the BBFC "British Broad of Film Classification" to find a suitable certification that can give us an idea on what target audience we are looking for.
Whilst researching we found some cool and interesting facts about classification and the things they have to look for to make the right decision for a age restriction
One age certification we were hoping we could fall into is 12 as it would provide us with a wide target audience for the film and we may just be able to make the certification but because of the content we decided that a 12 certification was just a bit too young for the content of the film.
We then looked at the next age certificate "15"
This certificate allows us to demonstrate the use of drugs and show explicit scenes such as violence and sex as long as it isn't to much or to strong. we found that this is the ideal certification we want for our film as it allows us to have a large target audience and is sutibly aged and allows us to have a big more freedom with the drug scene and shouldent cause to much of a problem.
So a 15 Certification is what we are going for as it is the most appropriate age for this type of film.
Why is certification so important ???
Film Certification is reqiured by law for every film made around the world. but a certification can have a huge impact on a films audience figures as some films are targeted at certain age groups but may not be classified for it and resulting in a smaller audience and a low profit margin for the film.
A recent example of this is "Batman The Dark Knight" which was released in 2009 and was targeted for a 12 + certification but was granted a 15 by the BBFC in the UK this caused upraw with the producers of the film Warner Brothers as they would lose out millions because of this. eventually the matter was resolved and Batman Dark Knight was a huge success in the UK box office.
But that is a good example of why the certification and the films content is so important to the production company and so thats why we did research into seeing what sort of certicication our film would be getting for the UK Box Office.
